The Two Tech Stocks to Own Forever?
Our original subscribers may recall that back in December of 2013 we named Apple as “The One Tech Stock to Own in 2014”, but do you remember the other company that we considered for that honor? It was Verizon, which recently made a move that we believe indicates that it is fully committed to an innogration strategy that we feel could put them into a similar (and enviable) position as Apple. In this month’s In Focus article, Leo Boeckl explains how he expects Verizon to spend that money in the years to come.
It was only two months ago that Rob DeFrancesco named cyber-security company FireEye as “The One Tech Stock to Own in 2015“, and already it has shot up the charts. On the day that article was published (December 15th) FEYE closed at $28.56, compared to its price of $42.28 at this morning’s open – that’s a remarkable gain of almost 50% in only eight weeks! In his Sector Spotlight article Rob reviews the company’s recent quarterly earnings report, and takes a look at a couple of other players in that sector that may be worth watching.
Rob also looks at the fourth quarter earnings results for Marketo in this month’s Portfolio Update article. Rob added MKTO to our Next Wave Portfolio on August 18th when it was priced below $29; as recently as January 29th it traded above $35 before coming back down to where we bought it after its earnings report, but Rob still likes and explains why he thinks you should stay focused on its long term strategy.
