Concerning SeaDrill SDRL, I have noted a rather big fall in the stock price, also that the company has sold some rigs, that they formed a MLP and their bull/bear rating is very bearish. I have not received any emails with possible alerts nor can I find any reason to understand why you rated SeaDrill a Best Buy in the recent portofolio review.

I would appreciate clarification of the company’s future in light of the above.

Thanks Ed

What’s going on with the plays i.e. EOG, PXD, WLL, OAS ,CRZO., etc. Why are they going down in face of WTI prices that have recovered. These are increased as holdings by T. Boone Pickens, Henry Paulson., etc.

Also wti Brent difference is smaller, yet Refiners are on fire.

Just curious and appreciate your opinion.
Thanks as always.

Actually I warned about both of these things in the last investor chat, and have been warning about it in the Energy Strategist. I expected a pull back on some of the pure domestic plays; advising investors that they could probably pick up shares of many of these companies like Oasis at a 10 percent discount from the price at that time. That turned out to be correct. I also said that refiners should recover nicely in the 4th quarter, because the Brent-WTI differential has grown substantially after bottoming out in Q3. I really expect some of the variable distribution refining MLPs to turn in some very good distributions for the quarter. But we also added back the refiners to the portfolios a month or two back.

MWE continues to slide. Now at 63.75, well below the “Buy Uner” of 77.I have been buying on the way down. Analysts are generally quite negative but I always wonder if they understand this MLP or if their computers are doing the analysis and writing the reports. What is your opinion of MWEtoday?

We remain committed to MWE as a long-term outperformer

Is there any particular reason you know of that is causing the decline in price since it was named a Best Buy?

I have read predictions that 2014 will be a good year for cyclical stocks. If so, will mid stream MLPs be a good investment? Similarly, will upstream MLPs be a good investment? Thanks

Chuck, I expect midstream MLPs to do fairly well in 2014; upstream MLPs are a bit iffier. Personally I see a downside risk with oil prices, which could be a problem for some of the upstream MLPs.
