Why is HIMX dropping this fast today?
Jim Pearce
I do not see any news or announcements to explain it, so my guess is one of its institutional/mutual fund investors is selling a block of stock that is distorting the supply/demand equilibrium temporarily. If that is case then it should drift back up once that stock has cleared the market.
Dear Jim, please a follow up on your HIMX recommendation? Thanks
Jim Pearce
We are going to update HIMX in the next issue of BTP, but in the meantime I can tell you that our opinion on it has not changed and we still believe it is a strong buyout candidate in 2017.

Is the same true for your other two picks as well with this diamond?
Jim Pearce
Yes. Until we state otherwise via an article or alert then our opinion of any stock currently held in one of our recommended portfolios is as stated in the portfolio table.
Thanks for the reply to my question. In your opinion, what percentage would be the best for each? Which of these three should I apply most investment to?
Jim Pearce
As a published we cannot provide personalized advice, so it is up to each subscriber to determine how best to act on our research. That said, as a general rule I would suggest putting 50% into the lead stock of each of our Special Situation “bundles” (in this case HIMX), and 25% each in the other two (in this case MVIS and IMMR).
I see that your three little gems are going to be a long-term play as the short term thus far is very volatile. The stocks are actually headed in the wrong direction now. Are these actually speculative plays on your part? What time frame are you giving for us to see positive movement?
Jim Pearce
Yes, small-cap stocks like these are usually more volatile than the overall market, and often trade independent of the general direction of the market. That’s why recommended owning all three of them, which helps dampen volatility while increasing exposure to the sector. And since each one of them is a possible takeover target, especially if Trump is successful in getting huge tech companies to repatriate billions of dollars currently kept offshore, we believe in sitting in them since there is no way of knowing when a buyout offer may become public.
Jim what’s the deal with HIMX this morning? The stock has been continuing to spiral downward; especially today! This is horrible! All the fundamentals say this stock is too cheap, yet the actions surrounding it say another thing. Something is up, but yet there’s no news. Has something been leaked to large institutions who have the edge on us little investors?
Jim Pearce
An investment banking firm following the company lowered reduced its price target for HIMX earlier this week, which seems to have triggered a sell-off in the stock. But I know of no recent news emanating directly from the company other than deferring its revenue forecast out a couple of quarters into 2017 that would explain the downdraft, and our long term thesis for owning this company to participate in the VR/AR sector remains unchanged.
From one of your recent newsletter promotions, i bought into CERS, MVIS & HIMX all of which are down a bit, but I’m OK hanging in through some rough weather. My question is will these stocks go on the Breakthrough Tech model portfoliio list or is there some way you report on your views/news on these companies? I just feel a little blind not having a source of info on what’s going on.
Jim Pearce
Hi Malcom, and thanks for joining us at BTP! Those stocks are currently in our Special Situations portfolio (under the Portfolios tab at the top of this page), but we are going to combine both portfolios into one later this month to avoid the type of confusion you mention. Thank you.

Hi Jim,
What’s stock or ticker symbol that LInda is referring to :Snap Up Snapchat Stock?
Cheers,
Jim Pearce
That company identified in the very fist sentence of the article – http://www.investingdaily.com/29587/snap-up-snapchat-stock/?cigx=d.kac,stid.87171,sid.657680,lid.7,mid.80716,lkid.580987&src=email-stid.87171-ID_AC-lid.7,seg.426
Jim Pearce
btw, as the article states the company is currently privately owned and contemplating a future IPO, so there is no trading symbol.

I simply cannot locate these two:
Buy to Open Molina Healthcare June 16 55 Call Option (MOH_170616C0005500) up to $8.
Buy to Open Molina Healthcare June 16 55 Put Option (MOH_170616P0005500) up to $8
I performed a search for these two options with my trading broker and they simply do not exist.
Jim Pearce
See if this helps: http://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MOH/options?p=MOH&date=1497571200
