Today I received in the mail something about WDC & a Mini Tender Offer. Since this is one of your Victory Stocks, I’d like to know what is going on. I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything. P,lease advise. Thanks, LL

The “mini tender offer” in question was made at a price several dollars below the current market price for WDC stock, so I can’t imagine anyone in their right mind would accept it. The company making the offer, TRC Capital, has a history of making this type of low-ball tender offer, hoping that they can snag stock at below market prices. To quote from Western Digital’s press release regarding this offer:
“The SEC has cautioned investors about these offers, noting that “some bidders make mini-tender offers at below-market prices, hoping that they will catch investors off guard if the investors do not compare the offer price to the current market price” and that many investors who hear about mini-tender offers “surrender their securities without investigating the offer, assuming that the price offered includes the premium usually present in larger, traditional tender offers.” The SEC’s Investor Tips regarding mini-tender offers may be found on the SEC’s website at http://www.sec.gov/investor/pubs/minitend.htm.”
Is Nokia (NOK) new “smart box” replacement for cell towers worth a serious investment look at this time?Improved technology, expanded capacity and ease of installation look pretty good.
..Refering to HIMX in the sepcial report …! where you see NVDA compagny which’s a great player too in VR space..? Actually providing a graphics processors for Oculus Rift (Aquired by Facebook)…
In the same trend, NVDA also plays a role in the automotive sector providing graphics processors for car infotainment systems.
Bottom line , what would be my Prio1 investments targets : HIMX Vs. NVDA and IDTI Vs.NVDA..?
Cheers…
Jim Pearce
That depends. NVDA is the safer play for conservative investors due to its larger size, but HIMX and IDTI could appreciate more (in relative terms) in the near term due to their smaller size so aggressive investors might prefer owning both of them to diversify risk.
