1) Familiarize yourself with Velocity Trader.

Read the Frequently Asked Questions that explain everything a new member needs to know. You’ll find a wealth of information in those FAQs!

If this is your first service from Investing Daily, or you haven’t set up your password, see how to log in to the members-only sections of the website here. Then use your email address and password to explore the Velocity Trader website.

2) If you don’t already have it, get authorization to trade options from a broker.

Even if you already have a brokerage account, you will need to get an upgrade to trade options. This is a process that takes you literally a few minutes and I will tell you exactly how it is done.

Big brokerages like Vanguard and T. Rowe Price aren’t necessarily the best platforms for options trading, so we’ve compared the trading platforms that many longtime Velocity Trader members prefer. Click here to see our research on options trading platforms like Think or Swim, Fidelity, e*trade, Interactive Brokers, and others.

Once you’ve decided which trading platform suits you best, you’re ready to fill out their application. It’s a short process, and in this video, I describe how to put your best foot forward to get cleared for the kind of Level 3 options trades that we do here at Velocity Trader:

3) Take our free 6-session options training course.

If you’re new to trading options spreads, I encourage you to join our live training sessions with my trusted trading partner, Derek Myers. He’ll teach you in plain-English everything you need to know to get started. And he can answer even your most basic questions in a judgment-free, small-group setting.

4) Watch my tutorial videos and introduce yourself to our community.

When you watch my video training series, you’ll quickly gain a better understanding of options, and how I use them in Velocity Trader.

I’ll share my personal options philosophy and describe how to follow along with my trade alerts. I’ll also take you through the five most important methods that I use in the options trading strategy that propels Velocity Trader: Seasonality, Momentum, Max Pain, MACD Charts, and Event.

Once you’ve watched these videos, drop in and introduce yourself to our community in our “Stock Talk” forum. This members-only community is an exciting place to interact with our more experienced members and to celebrate your experiences.

Members are online daily, discussing the current trades – you can learn a lot from these folks, and I’m often right in the middle of the discussion too.

5) Watch for my next trade, which comes out each Tuesday.

Once you’ve learned the basics of the Velocity Trader system, you’ll be able to place new trades every single week.

Except for on major holidays, every Tuesday morning I’ll email you one or more new trades. You’ll see a video of me describing the market forces that have caused me to choose the new trades and read exactly how you should place the trades with your trading platform.

To place your first trade you can simply pick up the phone and read my trade alert instructions to your options broker or place the trade yourself online.

To introduce you to online options trading, we’ve recorded step-by-step videos for placing a call debit spread trade on three different platforms on our broker tutorials page. (Again, we don’t recommend these platforms over the others. These are the three platforms Alane happens to have access to.)

Once you’ve taken these steps you’ll be well on your way! Soon you’ll be celebrating your first big “win” with the other satisfied and happy members of Velocity Trader.
