COMPANY DESCRIPTION

TRADE RATIONALE
Semiconductor stocks are on a roll, as evidenced by the fact that no less than 58 of them presently have an RSI of 80 or higher. And STM has been rolling right along with them, having doubled in valued since last August. For that reason, its trailing twelve months PER of 80x may seem a bit rich, but that translates to only 20x on forward estimated earnings due to its rapidly escalating growth in revenues and profits. As a result, STM has a PEG ratio of just 0.47 which is well below that of most of its peers.
The stock dropped last week amid reports of a factory fire at one of its production facilities in France, and an as yet unsubstantiated rumor that it may be late in delivering its 3D sensor for the next iteration of Apple’s iPhone 8. But the factory fire turned out to be a relatively minor overheating issue due to a faulty switch that has already been resolved, and neither STM nor Apple has issued a statement regarding a delay in production of the iPhone.
We view this brief lull as an opportunity to jump in on a high-quality momentum stock still on the rise. As a result of last week’s dip, our RPM noticed that STM is trading slightly below its 52-week high of $15.73 achieved on March 1, and appears close to breaking out above that level given its higher closing prices over the past three days.
NOTE: STM is optionable, but trades on very low volume so use limits when placing orders.

Stock is above 15.50, currently at 15.59 — so Jim, that means we shouldn’t be buying if we just got online to get this alert?
Jim Pearce
That’s correct. The market was up strongly today, and STM was up more than 2% so there’s a good chance it could drop below $15.50 on the next down day for the market.
Janis Bell
Two days of unfilled BUY order at 15.50 (it never dropped below 15.58). What are you thoughts on a BUY order GTC at this point?
Jim Pearce
STM briefly traded below $15.50 this morning; were you able to pick it up then?
Janis Bell
Schwab’s site was down every time I checked earlier, but thanks to your message, I just got it as it dropped at the end of the day for 15.425. Here’s hoping it reverses the drop soon!

Hi, Stephen:
The alerts via website come first and there is some delay with email and Tex by which time the stock price may have run up.
Of course, some members choose to buy calls. I am still learning that.

Actually, I have a questions about Smart Sand. I have been busy with income tax and have finally started reviewing investments. In a very short time Smart Sand dropped almost $3 a share. What happened? Should I take my losses or is it going to recover? Thanks
Jim Pearce
Smart Sand is not a stock we have ever recommended in Systematic Wealth so I’m afraid I can’t help you with that one. Perhaps you meant to ask this question to one of our other analysts on another product site?
